Prozac Nation premiere

Thanks to Alec, Dawn and Lisa for letting me know that “Prozac Nation” will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival being held September 6-15. Information on schedules will not be up on the official festival website until August 28. Alec also passed along an article that mentioned “Happy Now” may be set for release later on the year in the UK. No word on a US release for this film.

Gormenghast to air on PBS this June

PBS is set to air “Gormenghast” finally in June. It will also be released on DVD here in the US.

“The Magnificent Ambersons” is gearing up for it’s premiere. The novel will be republished with a new cover that shows off the cast of the tv movie.

Christina Ricci has been doing a lot of publicity lately and “Prozac Nation” keeps popping up in many articles. Still no word on when it may finally get released.

Also no word on what Jonny’s next project will be.

Back in Ireland

Jonny is back in Ireland. He has wrapped filming on both “Prozac Nation” and “Tangled”. Currently he is looking for his next role. It appears “Marlowe” isn’t going to be working out. You can catch some more amazing images of Jonny with Ewan McGregor in the August issue of Moviestar magazine (Japanese publication).

Photos Up

You can see Michelle’s photos from meeting Jonny on the set of “Prozac Nation” in the Gallery now.

Potential new project

Thanks to Jacqui for letting me know that “The Governess” is now airing on Sky digital channels this month in the UK. And read a first hand account from Michelle, who was lucky enough to be an extra several times for “Prozac Nation” in the Fan Encounters section.

New projects filming at same time

Thanks to CaerR for sending this new tidbit along. Nothing new but it does mention that “Prozac Nation” and “Conspiracy of Weeds” will be filmed at the same time. So Jonny’s going to be shuttling back and forth between sets.

Rhys-Meyers Goes Indie

(LOS ANGELES) - Irish actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (”Velvet Goldmine”) has booked two indie features that he will shoot simultaneously next month: Millennium Films and Cinerenta’s drama “Prozac Nation” opposite Christina Ricci and the thriller “Conspiracy of Weeds” with Rachael Leigh Cook for Tapestry Films and Myriad Pictures. Ironically, both projects have the actor playing a college boyfriend to the leading ladies, both of whose characters catch him cheating on them. Rhys-Meyers will be shuffling back and forth between the Vancouver set of “Prozac” and the Toronto set of “Conspiracy” to play his roles. The United Talent Agency-repped actor most recently starred in “Ride With the Devil” and “Titus.”

Two new projects

Thanks to Bridge (you omipresent news finder!) and Sarah, here’s a few tidbits about not just the one role Jonny has signed up for, but the two roles he’s snagged (congrats goes out to Jonny on what looks to be promising roles!).

Rhys-Meyers’ Cheating Parts 25/04/2000

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, last seen gracing the British small screen in “Gormenghast”, has nabbed two choice roles in Hollywood. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rhys-Meyers has signed up for two boyfriend roles, requiring him to play the love interests of Christina Ricci and Rachael Leigh Cook in Prozac Nation and Conspiracy of Weeds respectively.

Unfortunately, Rhys-Meyers’ bad boy persona as honed to perfection in Ang Lee’s “Ride With The Devil” and “Gormenghast” looks set to be his stock in trade as both roles show his character cheating on his girlfriend.

Michelle Williams and Anne Heche have joined the cast of “Prozac Nation,” the pic based on Elizabeth Wurtzel’s bestselling novel.

Thesps join Christina Ricci, Jason Biggs and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.

Lensing begins May 15 in Vancouver and Boston. Norwegian helmer Erik Skjoldbjarg (”Insomnia”) is directing… Story centers on Wurtzel’s freshman year at Harvard and her bout with depression.
