Like last year, Jonathan again played in a charity football match for St. Killian’s in Dublin to aid the Bray Women’s Refuge early this month. And this Saturday, Jonathan is expected to participate in a special event for Tara Heritage Day. From the Gaiety School of Acting website:
Help Stuart Townsend, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and internationally reknowned Aerial Artist, John Quigley create the worlds’ first GIANT HUMAN HARP at TARA HERITAGE DAY.
We need hundreds of people to gather at the Hill of Tara on Sunday, 23rd September from 1:30pm to 3:30pm to form the human aerial art image of a giant harp and a Tara heritage preservation message. Many of Ireland’s top harpists will accompany the performance. The event will be directed by internationally reknowned Aerial Artist, John Quigley and participants include Irish born international film stars Stuart Townsend and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as well as musicans, historians and scholars. The image will be photographed from an aircraft at 3pm. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch.
Spectral Q and the Save Tara Campaign are hosting Tara Heritage Day. Spectral Q has created similar human ‘aerial art’ images around the world including the Arctic, Antarctica, the Amazon Rainforest, London, New York, Los Angeles, Geneva, Miami, Toronto, Washington D.C., Copenhagen, New Orleans and others. To see images please check: www.SpectralQ.com. The Save Tara campaign is seeking to reroute the M3 motorway to preserve the ancient sites of the sacred Tara Valley. Brightcove is one of the various places you can watch the first two episodes of “The Tudors” online (word is they have been edited to remove some nudity from the version that will air on Showtime). They also have several of the trailers and features up in good quality. Showtime’s Youtube channel has also posted some of the new clips. Showtime is also running a sweepstakes contest for some pretty cool prizes.
Below is the Star Rising clip all about Jonny that is a must for any fan:

There is an adorable interview with Jonathan in the January issue of Company magazine out on UK newstands. This is the first time he publicly comments that he is now single saying, “I don’t have the time to put into a relationship. I’m just not around. It’s difficult with this job.”
Added 2 images from the article to the Gallery thanks to Shaznic.
I just ran across an ebay auction that benefits the charity Living Beyond Breast Cancer. The auction ends in 4 hours and is for a limited edition pink brush signed by Jonathan. All proceeds benefit this charity that aims to empower women affected by breast cancer.
Jonathan attended Electric Picnic this past weekend, a music festival held in Dublin. The line-up included Belle and Sebastian, New Order, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among many other bands and performers. And last night, Jonathan attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards, held at the Royal Opera House in London. Jonny was presented with the Lab Series Man of the Year award. The UK edition of GQ Magazine normally does a special issue on their Men of the Year so we’ll have to see how they’ll feature Jonny in the special issue. (Thanks to Shelia for the news.)
A couple more media sightings: There is a one page interview with photo in the new issue of the British edition of Elle Magazine. Drew Barrymore is on the cover for the special 21st birthday issue of Elle. And there’s a photo of Jonathan at Electric Picnic in the Irish Daily Mail newspaper from September 4, 2006.
The Versace ads are starting to turn up in fashion magazines. A close-up ad of Jonny with glasses on appears in the September issues of Esquire (US), Details (US) and GQ (US). Thanks to Shaznic for the information.
Reena Hammer is on the cover of the August 4th issue of the Evening Standard magazine. In the article, she talks about her relationship with Jonathan, her upbringing, and future plans.
Last night, Jonathan took part in a charity soccer game at St. Killian’s in Dublin to aid the Bray Women’s Refuge. Various cast and crew from “The Tudors” took part and went head to head in the match up. From the Bray People Newspaper, Jonathan is quoted as saying, “Yeah, it was a great night. It’s just great to get out on the evening with the lads here, especially as it’s just for such a good cause. It was great fun.” The event is expected to have raised over £1000.
The 5th annual JRM birthday store is now closed. We managed to raise $300 in celebration of Jonathan’s birthday and add to the total we’ve raised through the years. Thank you to everyone who participated and stay tuned… the new look to the JRMfansite will be unveiled soon with regular updates coming back too.
Jonathan’s 3 talented brothers, Jamie, Allen, and Paul, used to be in the band Suzy’s Field. What have they been up to lately? They have now formed a new band called The Ok’s. Check out their Myspace page. You can listen to a couple of demos and view a photo of the band. Jamie will be appearing in “August Rush” playing a band member with his big brother.
Also sending birthday greetings to Jonathan! Hoping he has a marvelous day!
The 5th annual JRM birthday store is now open! All proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to the Barnardos Children’s Charity in honor of Jonathan’s upcoming birthday. Past projects have managed to raise over $1,675 for Barnardos. Let’s make this year a great one! Spread the word about the store to as many fans as you can.
