Jonathan has been nominated for Best Sort in the 2007 Movie Extra Filmink Awards in Australia. You can vote online. I have no idea what Best Sort means but judging from his fellow nominees it might have to do with being hot in “Match Point”.

Update to the Gallery with 30 new images:

Added 10 images to Miscellaneous Events & Parties and 5 to Awards Shows in the Out on the Town section of the Gallery

Another movie clip from “Mission Impossible 3″ was released today and features Jonathan. View the “Shanghai” clip at Yahoo! Movies. The official website has been updated with all kinds of new goodies. Click on About, then Cast and they’ve got the bio up on Jonny with a new photo. And in the production notes, under About the Team is the following:

Jonathan Rhys Meyers joins the team as Declan, the team’s transportation expert: if you need it flown, driven, sailed, glided, helicoptered, or motored, he’s the man you want – despite his personality quirks. “Declan’s a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pans, mad Irishman,” says Rhys Meyers, who was most recently seen in the lead role of Woody Allen’s “Match Point”, a performance for which he received rave reviews. “He’s part of the next generation of the IMF – Ethan’s grooming him. He’s got that risk element that Ethan likes in his team members.”

Declan is also a chameleon, able to blend into any situation unnoticed. “One minute, he’s an Italian deliveryman; the next, he’s a geeky American tourist; and the next, a Vatican guard,” notes Rhys Meyers. “It’s very easy for him to slip into another character.”

“Mission: Impossible III” will premiere as part of the Tribeca Film Festival on May 3 at the Ziegfield Theatre. You can view 2 film clips that show Jonny on ComingSoon.net (I’ve Got a Signal and Are You In?). Moviefone also has one exclusive clip from the movie featuring Jonny. And just a reminder that “Match Point” is being released on DVD in the U.S. on April 25.

Signed to new project

There are some wonderful podcasts that have been posted on the official website for “Match Point”, featuring more interviews with Jonathan and his co-stars (thanks Shelia). Be sure to check them out!

And some good news to report! Jonathan has been offered and accepted a role in “August Rush”, a film set in New York City and to be directed by Kirsten Sheridan. Filming begins next year in New York and co-stars Freddie Highmore and Robin Williams. “August Rush” is a fantasy love story set in Central Park, where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents.

Premiere of Match Point

Jonathan attended the premiere of “Match Point” in Rome last night and did a press call today for the film. MTV.com has a great interview up with Jonathan and Scarlett Johansson. Entertainment Tonight is going to air a story on “Match Point” featuring Scarlett and Jonathan tonight! Check your local listings to find out when the show airs.

Esquire, TV, awards

Jonathan is featured in a huge photo spread in the new issue of Esquire magazine (the January 2006 US issue). And he made another appearance with his “Match Point” co-star Scarlett Johansson in an interview on the Today Show’s Saturday edition this past weekend. And lastly, Jonathan has won Best Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television at the 10th annual Satellite Awards. His co-star Randy Quaid won Best Supporting Actor and “Elvis” won Best Miniseries. Congratulations Jonathan!

Match Point promotion

Jonathan was featured in the December 2 Evening Standard. And he recently made an appearance with his “Match Point” co-stars in an interview that aired on E! and had a brief appearance this morning on the Today Show with Al Roker. He also attended last night’s special screening of “Match Point” held at the Tribeca Grand.

Match Point UK Premiere

“Match Point” will have it’s UK premiere in London (City of Westminster) this Sunday night and Jonathan will be in attendance. The premiere is being held at the Curzon Mayfair theatre.

Golden Globe Nominations

The 2006 Golden Globe Award nominations were announced this morning. “Match Point” got nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress (Scarlett Johansson). Jonathan got a nomination for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for “Elvis”! The Golden Globes will be presented live on January 16, 2006 8pm EST on NBC. And “Match Point” was named as one of the 10 best films of the year by the National Board of Review.
