Another award nomination for Jonathan!

For the fourth year in a row, Jonathan is again a nominee for Outstanding Actor (Drama) for this work in “The Tudors” at the upcoming Monte Carlo Television Festival Golden Nymph Awards. Jonathan won for his work in “The Tudors” the first year he was nominated in 2008. This is his last opportunity to be recognized for his performance as King Henry VIII in the final season of “The Tudors”. “The Tudors” also was nominated for Best TV Drama and Best European TV Drama. The festival runs from June 6 – 10.

For the fourth year in a row, Jonathan has again received a nomination for Actor in a Lead Role for “The Tudors” from the Irish Film & Television Academy. He won in 2008 for his first season playing King Henry. This is now his last opportunity to be honored for his work in “The Tudors” for the final season.

Co-star Sarah Bolger received a nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role. Also nominated from “The Tudors” are Joan Bergin for Custom Design, Tom McInerney and Dee Corcoran for Make Up & Hair, Tom Conroy for Production Design, and Drama Series.

The 8th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards are taking place on February 12th and will be broadcast live on Irish TV.

Once again, Jonathan is a nominee for Outstanding Actor (Drama) for this work in “The Tudors” at the upcoming Monte Carlo Television Festival Golden Nymph Awards. From IFTN:

Wildfire Films’ comedy series, ‘An Crisis’, and ‘World 2000’s historical drama ‘The Tudors’ have received six and three Golden Nymph nominations respectively at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival 2010.

The nominations received include nods for the acting talents of Risteard Cooper, Conor MacNeill, Norma Sheahan and Michelle Beamish in ‘An Crisis’ and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point, Shelter) in ‘The Tudors’. Furthermore, ‘An Crisis’ producers Martha O’Neill and Micheal O’Meallaigh and ‘The Tudors’ Morgan O’Sullivan were all nominated in several production categories.

The festival runs from June 6 – 10.

BAFTAs Alert!

Jonathan is scheduled to be a presenter in Sunday night’s BAFTAs.

They’ll be broadcast in the UK on February 21 starting on BBC Three at 7:30pm for red carpet highlights. Then at 9pm on BBC One will be the full awards ceremony. BBC America will also be airing the awards ceremony starting at 8pm and repeating at 10:30pm this Sunday.

And reminder that the Irish Film & Television Awards are airing live on RTÉ One at 9:30pm tonight. It’s unknown if Jonathan will be attending.

Nominations for the 7th annual Irish Film & TV awards were announced and Jonathan is up for the 3rd year running for his work in “The Tudors”. He’s been nominated again in Actor in a Lead Role – Television. He’s up against three powerhouse Irish actors: Gabriel Byrne, Brendan Gleeson, and Liam Neeson.

“The Tudors” also received 6 additional nominations for Drama Series / Soap, Ciaran Donnelly for Director Television, Sarah Bolger for Actress in a Supporting Role – Television, Joan Bergin for Costume Design, Sharon Doyle and Dee Corcoran for Make Up & Hair, and Tom Conroy for Production Design.

The awards ceremony is taking place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin and will be broadcast live on RTÉ on February 20.

Cable awards recognition

While Jonathan got no love from the Emmy Awards, he was recognized for his work on “The Tudors” by the 2nd annual CableFAX Program Awards. The CableFAX Program Awards are devoted to cable’s top shows, people, and entertainment icons. They are scheduled to be held in New York City on September 16, 2009.

Jonathan was nominated in the category Best Actor in Cable. “The Tudors” was also nominated for Best Show or Series: Drama.

61st Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning. “The Tudors” received 5 nominations, including for casting yet no acting recognition again unfortunately.

From the IFTN comes the news that Jonathan has been nominated for another award due to his amazing work in “The Tudors”. He’ll be up against co-star and acting legend Peter O’Toole:

Irish television productions ‘Killinaskully’, ‘Raw’ and ‘The Tudors’ along with ‘The IT Crowd’ creator by Graham Linehan and ‘Merlin’ actors’ Colin Morgan and Katie McGrath have all be nominated for 49th Monte Carlo Television Festival taking place from 7 – 11 June 2009.

Both Michael Parke, producer of ‘Raw’, and ‘The Tudors’ producers Morgan O’Sullivan and Michael Hirst have received nominations in the Outstanding International Producer (Drama) and Outstanding European Producer (Drama)categories.

For Outstanding Actor – Drama, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors), Peter O’Toole (The Tudors), Keith McErlean (Raw) and Armagh actor Colin Morgan (Merlin) have all received nods while in the Actress section Charlene McKenna (Raw), Maria Doyle Kennedy (The Tudors) and Katie McGrath (Merlin) are up for the award.

IFTA update

Jonathan didn’t win at this year’s Irish Film and TV Awards in his category. He also didn’t attend the ceremony. From the Herald comes word that he was unable to attend due to personal reasons. He also didn’t attend last night’s Oscar Wilde party in Los Angeles, where he received an honor from the US-Ireland Alliance.

MISSING: Tudors star not only big name absent from TV awards

Troubled Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was forced to pull out of the IFTAs due to a “family crisis”, the Herald can exclusively reveal.

The Golden Globe winner was due to be the big celebrity draw at the glitzy bash at the reopened Burlington hotel.

However, it has now emerged that a critical family emergency led to the Cork-born actor pulling the plug on the appearance.

His co-star in the Tudors — which won six awards on Saturday — has leapt to defend the hunky actor for missing the night.

Speaking after bagging the gong for Best Actress in a TV Role, Maria Doyle Kennedy told the Herald his absence was due to personal reasons.

“He couldn’t be here because of a family thing. I can’t say any more about it but I know that he was gutted he couldn’t be here,” she said.
