Metro

Jonathan Rhys Meyers: My Dracula is all about suffering but it’s sexy, too Metro, October 31, 2013 Jonathan Rhys Meyers has a reputation for being a touch intense. But when we meet to talk about his new show, Dracula, he bounds from his chair like an excited puppy, his enthusiasm spilling over into a giddy torrent of ideas surrounding the triple nature of the role he plays. He’s intense, certainly, but it’s coupled with a still boyish charm (he’s 36), an ability to laugh at himself and an energy...

Dracula

Tuned In: ‘Dracula’ rises again in new prime-time series By Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, October 24, 2013 It’s from the same production company as “Downton Abbey,” but make no mistake: NBC’s “Dracula” is no “Downton Dracula.” While the settings are somewhat similar — “Dracula” is set in London in the late 19th century; “Downton Abbey” is set a couple of decades later; both shows share a producer in Gareth Neame — there’s enough bodice ripping and jugular tearing in “Dracula” to give “Downton’s” Dowager Duchess the vapors. Directed by...

Dracula

Jonathan Rhys Meyers injects fresh blood into ‘Dracula’ By Robert Rorke NY Post, October 24, 2013 It takes some kind of moxie to step into a role previously played by Gary Oldman, Christopher Lee and, of all people, Leslie Nielsen — but Jonathan Rhys Meyers seems perfectly cast as the smallscreen Dracula in NBC’s new series. The intense Irish actor, who made a sensational series debut on “The Tudors,” plays old Vlad the Impaler with an unsmiling, slow-burning vengeance. This Dracula has an axe to grind — or maybe...

Jonathan Rhys Meyers: ‘Imagine what it takes to suck the entire blood system out of somebody’ The Cork actor prepared for the role of Dracula in full-blooded fashion: by staring at strangers in Budapest ‘until they wanted to call the police, thinking I was a lunatic’ By Patrick Freyne Irish Times, October 24, 2013 I am sitting in a crypt with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, star of The Tudors, Mission Impossible 3 and the most recent incarnation of Dracula. In an adjoining chamber there is a cabinet containing a mummified cat and mouse discovered in...
