From the Hollywood Reporter comes some casting news about season 3 of “The Tudors”:

Joss Stone is joining ‘The Tudors’
British soul singer to play Anne of Cleves

In her first major acting gig, British soul and R&B singer Joss Stone is joining the cast of Showtime’s drama “The Tudors” for its upcoming third season.

Stone will play Anne of Cleves, the fourth wife of Henry VIII (Rhys Meyers).

A daughter of a German nobleman, Anne was betrothed to Henry in a marriage treaty between the Cleves Court and the king’s chancellor after Henry was shown a portrait of her.

Upon Anne’s arrival to England, Henry was disappointed in her looks and soon found a legal way to have the marriage annulled.

According to Showtime, the upcoming season of the racy royal drama will follow the king as he weds third queen Jane Seymour (Anita Briem) and then Anne of Cleves.

From the Daily Mail comes our first glimpse of Jonathan as Henry VIII in season three of “The Tudors”. The two new images show Jonathan arriving on set in costume to film a scene at Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin.

Tudors season 4?

From the Vancouver Sun comes details about the future of “The Tudors”. Robert Greenblatt, entertainment president of Showtime says the series will likely last 4 seasons total. Currently, “The Tudors” is filming it’s 3rd season in Dublin. This would leave one final season to film next summer.

Primetime Emmy Awards

The Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced today. “The Tudors” only received 2 nominations for Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series and Outstanding Costumes For A Series. Funny they were nominated for Outstanding Casting but no actors were recognized for their work on the series. Sadly, even Peter O’Toole got snubbed. What a shame!

Cameo in new film

A new Irish comedy titled “A Film With Me in It” premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival yesterday. It features a cameo by Jonathan! Director Neil Jordan also makes a cameo appearance. The sypnosis:

A dissolute scriptwriter and a struggling actor accidentally become embroiled in a seemingly inescapable web of murder and lies. Desperately trying to take control of their situation, Dylan Moran and Mark Doherty shine as the two helpless victims of fate. With Keith Allen providing a hilarious turn as their gruff landlord, this blackly comic thriller is a joy that keeps you laughing and guessing right up until the last minute.

early Emmy news

For the first time, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the top 10 finalists for Best Drama and Best Comedy series. In previous years, lists would leak based on insider information and speculation. This year, the Academy has officially released the list.

“The Tudors” has made it to the top 10 list for Best Drama series for the first time. It was widely known that it did not make the top 10 list last year. This weekend, the top 10 list will be whittled down to just 5 nominees after each episode is viewed by special judges (their rankings are combined with the popular votes already received).

The full list of Emmy nominations will be announced the morning of July 17. Here’s the list of 10 finalists:

August Rush nominated

The 2008 Teen Choice Awards nominees were announced today and “August Rush” received a nod for Choice Movie: Drama. It’s up against “21″, “Into the Wild”, “Step Up 2: The Streets” and “Stop-Loss”.
