Another Mission?

“Mission Impossible: IV” has been announced with director Brad Bird, but the cast is not yet lined up. Jonathan is rumored to be joining the 4th installment reprising his role as Declan. His involvement has not been officially announced yet.

The nerdy technician prevails?

Mission Impossible: IV may have a decisively mysterious plot thus far, but as director Brad Bird has actors lining up to read for roles, the cast is taking form.

Joining Tom Cruise and small group of rumored cast members (such as Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is Simon Pegg, the previous M.I. film’s tech nerd (and Star Trek’s Scotty).

Pegg, also known for Shaun of the Dead, is in talks to reprise his role as Benji Dunn in the fourth M.I. flick. This announcement is likely just one of many, as Bird is spending this week casting, with the film set to start production in September.

Produced by Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Paula Wagner, the fourth and potentially final film is projected for a late 2011 release.

As soon as I heard that they were making another MI movie I hoped that Jonathan would get the opportunity to play Declan. Perhaps his performance in From Paris will encourage them to consider a larger role for him.

Jonathan is a tremendously talented actor. From his interviews, one can see that he’s not just another pretty face, he really knows and understands the role he’s playing, the historical background of it, and it’s obvious that he’s done his “homework” regarding the craft of acting combined with artistic knowledge in general. Also, reading the fans’ experience, you can see that he’s not acting as a celebrity, quite contrary, which makes him a great human being indeed. Johnny, please, realize how wonderful and gifted person you are and stop hurting yourself. Don’t destroy the Johnny we love so much!
